Hi, my name is
Defrim Binakaj
and I'm a

My name is Defrim, and I'm a sixth year Software Engineering Co-op student from the University of Alberta.
Since highschool, coding has captured my heart. Whether it be designing a multiplayer Pong computer game as a final project in grade 11, or developing a prototype app to be used by first responders at the UofA, I wake up every day excited to make another tool or feature.
I have tackled many different perspectives of programming - from system administration to game development and app design to backend engineering, all of which have fostered a personal passion to learn and contribute as much as I can to each specific industry. With this in mind, I haven't decided which programming perspective to dedicate my life to; but I have decided that no matter which, I want to have a positive impact on the world and contribute to making society better in any way, shape, or form.
Here are a couple of pictures of me:

It was always a dream of mine to set up my own little server and have
a suite of web software that I can use without subscriptions or
encrappification,
rather that is reliable and modular. Little did I know that having a PI, Intel NUC and
my main PC would have its own set of requirements like an ethernet switch and (not so much
needed but moreso desired) a server rack to put everything on.
Many
sighs
were had but not without
triumph
-- it was a hugely
valuable
learning opportunity
for docker, linux, web hosting, reverse proxying, certification hackwork, and so much more.
I would've spent another 4 months doing it all over again if it meant never having to use
google suite
ever again
